About Laila
What Laila is, when and where it started, how check-in works, what Laila+ is, who writes the guides and how every detail is checked before it is published.
What Laila is
Laila (לילה) is a free nightlife app for Israel (iOS and Android, launched September 2026) that shows in real time how many people are at the bars, dance bars, clubs, pubs and rooftops around you, with location-verified check-in, a chat per venue and events published by the venues. 18+. Live in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Haifa.
When and where we started
Laila is an independently owned service based in Israel. The app has been on the App Store and Google Play since September 2026, and its first venues are in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Haifa; other cities join as their venues do.
This website shows what each venue published about itself - opening hours, address, events - and never anything about users: no crowd counts, no check-ins, no profiles. Those are in the app only.
How check-in works
You check in from your phone, inside the venue, and the check-in is verified by location. The count the app shows is the number of people checked in right now, shown only from five people up, so nobody can be identified by a number. A check-in renews while you are inside and ends when you leave.
What Laila+ is
Everything happening right now - the map, the live counts, check-in, the venue chat, messages and friends - is free, always. Laila+ is an optional subscription for people who want to plan ahead: every venue's usual week, hour by hour. Prices are shown in the app, and what is collected and shown is in the privacy policy.
Who writes here
Venue, event and city pages are built from what the venues published. The guides - to neighbourhoods, scenes and holidays - are written by Noam Barak.
Noam Barak writes Laila's guides to the neighbourhoods, scenes and holidays of Israel's nightlife, and checks every opening hour, address and price with the venue itself before it is published.
How we write and check
AI tools help us draft. No text goes on the site before a person has read it and checked every hour, address and price with the venue itself, and a piece written with AI says so in its byline.
No venue can buy a position, a rating or a mention. A paid link, if there is ever one, is marked as such. Found a mistake? Write to us and we will fix it.
