Laila - Terms of Service

Version 2 - Effective 4 September 2026

Who we are

The Laila app and the pages at https://laila-nightlife.com/legal ("Laila" or "the service") are operated by Laila, an independently owned service based in Israel ("we", "us"). You can reach us at support@laila-nightlife.com or through Contact in the app. These terms are a binding agreement between you and us. Venue and business accounts (the venue console) are covered by separate business terms.

1. What Laila is

Laila shows nightlife venues near you together with live, anonymous crowd information: how many people are there and the gender and age mix. When you are physically at a venue you can check in, take part in that venue's public chat, post to the Tonight feed, and send direct messages under the rules below. Some features are part of a paid plan, Laila+ (section 8).

2. Who may use Laila

You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter this agreement. You confirm this when you create an account. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18 we will close it and delete its data. Laila is intended for use in Israel; if you use it elsewhere you are responsible for complying with local law.

3. Your account

3.1 You can sign in with a phone number, a Google account or an Apple account, and you may link several of these to one Laila account. One account per person.

3.2 Keep your sign-in credentials to yourself. You are responsible for what is done with your account until you tell us it has been compromised.

3.3 We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms (section 10).

4. Location and check-ins

4.1 Laila needs your location to show venues near you and to verify that you are at a venue before a check-in counts. Without location permission the app can still be browsed, but you cannot check in.

4.2 Automatic arrival detection ("Check me in automatically") is optional and off by default. When you turn it on, the operating system wakes Laila when you enter or leave a venue's area so that you can be checked in and, importantly, checked out. We store check-in events, never a trail of your movements. You can turn it off at any time in your profile settings.

4.3 Faking or spoofing your location, or checking in to a venue you are not at, corrupts information other people rely on and is a breach of these terms.

5. The one-message rule

You may send one direct message to another user who is at the same venue as you. Until they reply you cannot send them another. Trying to get around this - with additional accounts or in any other way - is a breach of these terms. This rule exists to protect people from harassment. It is not negotiable and is never lifted for paying subscribers.

6. Community rules

6.1 Do not harass, threaten, stalk or intimidate anyone. No hate speech, no doxxing (publishing anyone's private details), no sexual content involving anyone who has not clearly welcomed it, and never any content involving minors. No commercial solicitation, spam, or impersonation. Venue chats are public spaces: behave as you would in the venue itself.

6.2 We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. You can report any message, post, photo or profile, and block any user, from wherever that person appears in the app. Reports are reviewed by our moderation team, and we act on them - typically within 24 hours - by removing content and, where warranted, suspending the account.

6.3 To keep the service safe we use automated screening: photos and reported messages are scored by a machine model before or shortly after they appear. Content the model flags with high confidence is hidden pending human review. A person, not the model, makes the final decision on any suspension. False or abusive reporting is itself a breach of these terms.

7. Your content

7.1 You keep the rights to what you post. You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to store, reproduce, display and adapt (for example resize) your content inside the service for as long as it is in the service, so that we can operate Laila. The licence ends when the content is deleted, subject to short-lived backups.

7.2 You are responsible for your content. Only post photos you have the right to share, and do not post identifiable photos of other people without their consent.

7.3 We may remove or hide content that breaks these terms or the law, and we may keep a copy of removed content and reports for as long as needed to handle the matter, as described in our Privacy Policy.

8. Laila+, the night pass and payments

8.1 Everything happening right now is free: the map, the head-count, check-in, venue chat and direct messages. Laila+ (a monthly or annual auto-renewing subscription) and the night pass (a single 24-hour purchase) add planning and depth features described on the paywall. Safety features are never paid.

8.2 Prices are shown in the app, in your local currency and including VAT where it applies. Purchases are made through and billed by Apple's App Store or Google Play, according to the store's own terms. We do not receive your payment details.

8.3 A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the renewal date. You can cancel at any time in your store's subscription settings (Apple: Settings > your Apple ID > Subscriptions; Google: Play Store > Payments & subscriptions). Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep the features until the end of the paid period.

8.4 Your rights under the Israeli Consumer Protection Law, 5741-1981, are not affected by these terms. In particular: you may cancel a continuous transaction (a subscription) at any time by giving us notice through any of the channels listed on https://laila-nightlife.com/legal/cancel - by email, through Contact in the app, or on that page - and the cancellation takes effect within three business days of your notice (six if sent by post). You may also cancel a purchase made at a distance within 14 days, subject to the conditions the law sets, in which case you may be charged for the part of the service already provided and a cancellation fee as the law allows. Because the store bills you, we pass your notice to the store's refund process where a refund is due and make sure you receive it. Where a subscription is cancelled under the law, we will refund the unused part within 14 days.

8.5 Apple's and Google's refund policies apply to purchases made through them, without prejudice to the rights above.

9. Venue offers and promoted content

9.1 Venues can publish offers and buy placement in the app. Promoted content is marked as such. Offers are made by the venue, not by us: the venue is responsible for honouring an offer and for its content. We review offers before they are shown, but we are not a party to anything you buy at a venue.

9.2 Laila does not sell alcohol. Some venues serve it; the legal age for buying alcohol in Israel is 18, and excessive drinking endangers life and health. Look after yourself and the people you are with.

10. Suspension and termination

10.1 We may suspend or close your account, remove content, or restrict features if you breach these terms, if we are required to by law, or if it is necessary to protect other users - without notice where notice would defeat the purpose. Where reasonable, we will tell you why and let you respond.

10.2 You may leave at any time by deleting your account (section 11).

11. Deleting your account

Profile > Account > Delete account erases your profile, photos, posts, messages, conversations and check-in history immediately and irreversibly, and revokes the sign-in links to your Google or Apple account. Instructions are also at https://laila-nightlife.com/legal/delete-account, where you can also request deletion by email if you no longer have access to the app. The Privacy Policy lists the few records we must keep afterwards.

12. Intellectual property

Laila, its name, logo, design and software are ours or our licensors'. These terms give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app on devices you own or control, subject to the store's terms. Do not copy, reverse-engineer, scrape or resell the service or its data, and do not use automated tools against it.

13. What we do not promise

13.1 Crowd numbers are aggregates of check-ins reported by devices. They are indicative and can be wrong, delayed or missing. We do not guarantee that a venue is open, busy, safe, or as described.

13.2 Venues are independent businesses. We are not responsible for what happens at a venue, for entry decisions, prices or service, or for the conduct of other users.

13.3 The service is provided "as is" and "as available" to the extent the law allows. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free.

14. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data or profits, arising from your use of Laila, and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited by law - including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or any liability under the Consumer Protection Law or the Standard Contracts Law, 5743-1982.

15. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. If a change is material we will tell you in the app at least 14 days before it takes effect, and continuing to use Laila after that date means you accept the new version. If you do not, delete your account before then. Each version carries a version number and effective date, and we record which version you accepted.

16. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel. Disputes will be brought before the competent courts in Israel. If you are a consumer, nothing here deprives you of protections you are entitled to under the law of the place where you live, or of your right to bring a claim where that law allows.
