Where to go
Rothschild Boulevard runs from the edge of Neve Tzedek up to Habima, with a shaded walking and cycling path down the middle. In the evening the path fills with people on benches and at the kiosks, and most of the night moves into the streets around it: Lilienblum, Allenby, Nahalat Binyamin and the small streets that link them.
By day Nahalat Binyamin is a pedestrian street of shops and craft stalls; at night the blocks next to it fill with bars. The whole area is a mix: cocktail bars, wine bars, neighbourhood bars in old buildings, pubs, and towards Allenby Street dance bars and places that stay open late. There are a few rooftops too. It is a good area for starting in one bar and walking on to the next.
Bars here get going straight after work, and some fill up early. Wednesday and Thursday are the peak, and on Friday the area is busy from midday and again at night. Early in the week it is easier to get a seat without booking. For the whole city, neighbourhood by neighbourhood, see our Tel Aviv nightlife guide.
Allenby station on the light rail's Red Line is within walking distance, though the light rail does not run on Shabbat. From here you can walk on to Carmel Market and Kerem HaTeimanim, Florentin or Neve Tzedek. Buses and shared taxis run along Allenby Street, and regular taxis are easy to flag on the boulevard and the main roads, though you will wait longer on weekend nights. Night buses run on some nights; check a transit app. Evening street parking is close to non-existent, so drivers should head for a paid car park. And if you drink, don't drive.
Rothschild is a wide boulevard with a path down the middle, and most of its bars are on the streets that cross it or run alongside it. Nahalat Binyamin is a narrower street that starts by the Carmel Market. At night they work as one area, a few minutes' walk apart.
Yes. Most places here are bars for sitting and talking, but there are dance bars, DJ bars where the music goes up after midnight, and late-night places, mostly towards Allenby Street. What is on this week is in the events on this page.
For the popular bars, and especially with a group, it helps. Many places fill up on Thursday and Friday nights, and some take table bookings. If you have not booked, arriving on the early side helps, and there is always another bar a short walk away.
