Akbar Jaffa
2 Nakhman St, Tel Aviv-Yafo
Where to go
This page is about Jaffa, the old port city at the southern end of Tel Aviv-Yafo, not Jaffa Street in Jerusalem. Nights here feel different from central Tel Aviv: fewer clubs, more bars and restaurants that turn into bars, outdoor tables and sea views. It splits into three areas close to each other, and you can walk between them in one evening.
Old Jaffa sits on the hill above the sea, with stone alleys, galleries and a view along the Tel Aviv coastline. Yefet Street starts at its entrance, by the Clock Tower Square. At night it is mostly for a walk, dinner and a drink with a view, not for dancing.
By day the Flea Market is full of stalls, vintage shops and antiques. In the evening the stalls close and the streets around the market fill with bar and restaurant tables. This is the heart of Jaffa at night: neighbourhood bars, wine and cocktail bars, places with a DJ and sometimes a small live show.
Jaffa Port is an old fishing harbour that still works, and next to the boats stand old warehouses that have become restaurants, bars and event spaces. In the evening you sit right by the water, and in summer it is one of the nicest outdoor spots in the city.
Thursday and Friday are the peak, and summer weeknights are busy too. You can walk along the promenade from the Tel Aviv beaches, or come over from Florentin and Neve Tzedek. The light rail's Red Line runs along Jerusalem Boulevard, but not on Shabbat. There are paid car parks around Old Jaffa and the port, and taxis on the main roads. And if you drink, don't drive. For the rest of the city, see our Tel Aviv nightlife guide.
No. Jaffa is the old city on the sea, part of the municipality of Tel Aviv-Yafo. Jaffa Street is a main street in Jerusalem that has bars of its own. This page covers only Jaffa in Tel Aviv-Yafo: the old city, the Flea Market and the port.
You can, but there is less of it than in central Tel Aviv. Most places in Jaffa are bars and restaurants for sitting and talking, and some bring on a DJ later at night. If you want to dance until morning, start in Jaffa and carry on in Florentin, which is close by.
It depends on what you want. For bars and going out, the streets around the Flea Market. For sitting by the water, the port. For a walk, dinner and a drink with a view, Old Jaffa. They are all close, so you can walk between them in one evening.
Laila shows, for every venue, how many people are checked in at this moment, and who. Free for everything live.
